Day 2, 11:10 pm A Much Better Evening

Gage's kidneys have started kicking in and he has been peeing well this afternoon.  They finally took him off the ventilator at 8:30 this evening.  He is doing great.  They are keeping some oxygen on him through his nose.  This will be weaned down over night and then possibly off by morning.  They are planning on pulling his foley catheter in the morning. That has to feel to get that thing out of there.   One or 2 tubes at a time, slowly but surely.  Hoping he can get some good rest tonight so we can get him up out of bed tomorrow.

His right heart pressures have been slowly coming down throughout the day, especially as he is peeing more.  All things in the right direction.  Not saying it is smooth sailing from here, we could still have some hiccups along the way.  Both girls had seizures after their transplants and Gage had one after his VAD placement.  That is certainly a possibility. For now, we will enjoy the progress in the right direction.

The kids went with our good friends the Zengers to Great America today.  They were all reluctant to go, but it was the best thing for them to do.  I was really surprised how they were really torn with wanting to stay with Gage at his bedside or go have fun.  It was very precious.  In the end, they were glad they went.  Thank you Zengers and everyone else for your continuous prayers and support.  We are so humbled by the out pour of generosity.

My only worry for tonight, is that Jason will be sneaking Gage too much water.

He looks awesome! The smile on his face is amazing. He appears to be handling things a bit better. I think being surrounded by family has really helped. I think the transplant gods were smiling on you today and helped you and Gage. It's a miracle. Stay strong and lots of love

Yay for the good news today! So happy to hear he's doing better. And what sweet siblings he has. That's great that they got to get out and have fun today. I'm sure it was a great release for them after all the waiting and worrying. Is there an address where Gage can receive cards?
