This morning

Evening report from last night.
Gage continues to improve.  He has peed off another 600 ml and is feeling better. He is not up jumping around, or even going for walk, but he was up playing the Wii with his siblings.  His personality is still not back yet, but it's coming.  Of course he feels better when he has his pain meds on board.

As for tonight, they are continuing to watch and monitor his blood pressure, heart pressure, oxygen rate, pain, urine output, and other various items.

I am here with Gage for a bit, then will head home to the RMH.

May 2, Tuesday morning
Always good to walk into Gage's room and see him sitting up watching the Disney channel.  Nothing bad to report this morning.  Blood pressure on track, heart pressures down, kidney's working away, peed off another 700 ml, no extra oxygen, chest tubes slowing down, pain under control, and for the first time in over a week, getting an appetite back.  Hoping to get the dialysis ports out of his neck and maybe a chest tube.  Just have to wait and see what the team wants to do.

Regarding his fluid overload, he has dropped 2.7kg, that's 6 lbs of fluid.  We will let you know the exact amount when we know.

The down side or better yet, the objectives for today would be to get him eating, and up for a walk.  He is sooo weak and uncomfortable. Getting him up is a huge chore.

Right now I'm huddled in the corner working while Gage and Mom are building some sort of Batman action figure.  After rounds I will head to my office and Stacy and Gage will keep on keepin' on.

There is NO DOUBT that Gage's recovery is the direct result of the countless prayers and hope from so many of our friends, family, neighbors, school mates, church leaders, and many other people we don't even know. Whether the answers to prayers came in the form of inspiration to the doctors on how to treat him, or the technology available today to locate and monitor the issues, or his body finally responding, or direct intervention from on High, it's still an answer to all of our humble and sincere prayers. We thank you with all our 'hearts'.

Need to go, preparing for a walk!!!
Good first walk.  Down to the doors and back.

The pictute of Stacy helping and hugging Gage was the final flood breaker for me! Everyone needs a hug from their Mom! Tell Gage I'm really glad I "manned" up and dug my sliver out, in his honor, 'cause now my dinky little finger is feeling better too! Things are looking up...Man of Steel, it's onward and upward now, Buddy! Prayers, always, from High Valley.

So very happy to hear another good report. I look at those pictures and I say a prayer of thankfulness and gratitude for pediatric nurses and doctors. I have seen all the same IV's, lines, tubes, etc in adults. I just lose it seeing it in such a little guy. What a gift those nurses and doctors have. Gage is such a fighter! I can see why he is called The Man of Steel! You are all in my prayers every day!

I am so happy to hear so much positive news. As hard as it was to face dialysis with Shalese, it really helped her get to a better place in healing. You are doing an incredible job. Keep up the great work Gage! Many prayers and much love for you!πŸ’—
